About Jess

I'm an often random, straight talkin' lawyer, mama to 2 girls, who loves to run. I'm a Starbucks (decaf) fiend and Amazon.com addict.  Wanna know more? Click on "About STJ" on the menu bar.

Mommy blogging is as American as apple pie, or at least it feels like that.  Everyone has a blog.  You can find great new recipes, you can learn how to go green, you can learn how to cloth diaper, you can learn how to throw a good party.  You can be a small fry like me, or you can be as huge as The Pioneer WomanDooce or The Bloggess [ok- well actually you probably can't but still].  The point is you can make your blog what you want it to be. A place for you to share your random thoughts, a place to teach, a place to make a difference, and everything in between.

I wasn’t always a blogger (technically I’m not a mommy blogger because I’m so random you never know what you’ll find here).  It started 5 years ago with a little thing called BabyNamesWorld.com.  That {now defunct} website (which can only be compared to The Bump since it had forums) is where I met a group of ladies that I am still “friends” with today.  J didn’t understand how I could be friends with a bunch of random people I don’t know.  But when we moved to our very own little forum, and the friendships continued through the births of our babies, the death of my mom, new jobs, new homes, new babies, I think he realized that “my girls” weren’t going anywhere (and weren’t crazy psychos–well all but one).  I was lucky enough to meet one of them on a trip to Pinehurst a couple years ago, but hopefully I’ll continue to meet more of them as time goes by (sooner rather than later–Disney is calling my name!).

We’ve come together in times of need and that’s what friends do. Even miles apart.  As we’ve all gotten busy and our little forum has gotten quiet, I know those friendships continue–friendships that started online.  And now the interwebs have allowed me to “meet” some fun new bloggy mamas (you know who you are) that have become a part of my day (and always make me laugh–hello it’s not everyday someone teaches you bat pee repels Opossums).

Blogs make you think.  They make you laugh.  They teach.  More importantly blogs can give you the chance to make a difference on a bigger scale.  Baby Rabies did an AMAZING job helping one family affected by cancer. Law Momma is helping make a difference right now.  And hopefully, I can help The Lame Sauce in his fundraising efforts…details to come.

Anyway… thanks for that, interwebs and bloggy mamas.  Hope you find some bloggy mamas to enjoy.
